Function
The Automotive & CTE Success Coach will serve as a central point for Automotive and other identified CTE program students to serve in an advising, mentoring, and retention role. This individual will make regular contact with students and connect students with services for successful completion of degrees, certificates, and credentials.
Organizational Relationship
This position reports to the Dean of Career and Technical Education, who reports to the provost
and Vice President of Instructional Services, who reports to the President of the College.
Position Qualifications
Required:
- Appropriate education and/or training related to student success, student services, advising, retention, etc.
- Strong time management, planning and organizational skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, and human relation skills
- Computer skills and the ability to work with database, spreadsheet and word processing software
- Experience with Ellucian/Datatel
Preferred:
- Associates degree or higher
Essential Functions
- Support academic advising by assisting students in the enrollment process, providing guidance on course work needed for progression of education pathways, and the registration process.
- Send reminders to students on academic timelines and deadlines, including registration dates, drop/add, and withdrawal.
- Meet with students when registration opens each semester to ensure they get registered.
- Advise students on the availability and process for scholarships, including foundation and department scholarships.
- Monitor student progress by meeting regularly with students, providing proactive outreach and supports, and intervening early to help struggling students shift their trajectory before failure occurs.
- Connect students to the Financial Aid Office to learn about eligibility and available support.
- Connect students to other resources, such as Perkins grant, WIOA, etc.
- Connect students to the Director of Equity and Access for accommodations.
- Work with program staff, the Assistant Professors of Automotive Technology, and financial aid staff to disseminate information and referrals for students on the REV Up program, eligibility requirements, benefits, and available services on and off campus.
- Promote an educational environment that recognizes and values diversity, equity, and inclusion as integral components of academic excellence.

Supervisory Responsibility
None expected
Supervisory Controls
Employee is required to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision. Consultation as necessary is available with the program coordinators and faculty and the Dean of CTE.
Guidelines
Position is expected to follow all Kaskaskia College policies and procedures, along with
all local, state and federal laws and regulations. Position is also expected to adhere to and promote College core values of compassion, honesty, respect, fairness, and responsibility.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Duties will be performed in an academic environment consistent with the program of study and needs of
the students. Environment may be prone to frequent distractions and interruptions.
